This is one bad blade. I made it to be fully capable of use. The 17”  full tang blade is sharpened using a convex grind, best for shearing tissue. The D guard is hand-forged from mild steel stock and is fitted solidly to the tang so it can be used for punching and striking. Since it is a full tang blade, the pommel is sandwiched between two layers of brass, and then pinned together. For the handle scales, I used Purple Heart wood that I blackened with a  torch. This wood does not swell or misshape due to moisture. This blade comes with a custom-fitted Kydex scabbard.
